OSHA How to Guide for Partners
Issues/Challenges:
OSHA wanted to reinvigorate its image through a re-branding process that included a new slogan and messages for its business and worker audiences. From the branding research, it became apparent that OSHA needed to re-introduce itself as an innovative and premier organization to its key partners in business, association, labor union and community groups. Lindberg Group was contracted to develop the concept for an outreach initiative and instructional guide for all of OSHA’s partnership groups.
Strategies:
- Divide the partnerships into five distinct groups, based on their organizational commitment to safety and health, the structure of the organization (business or association) and size
- Develop concept papers for all of the outreach elements
- Develop a basic guide to community outreach as a key learning tool for new partners
Activities:
- Make educating local communities a primary objective of the new branding effort and provide the tools to implement this at the local and regional level
- Develop a general design concept for the outreach educational materials that, while distinct to each partnership, have an overall coordinated presence in both aesthetics and content
- Ensure that each program has its own “identity” that remains compatible with OSHA’s overall brand
- Include in each of the five folders an outreach guide (providing useful templates for producing press releases, alerts, reports, power points, speeches, and media lists) tailored to individual needs and audiences, combined with a CD-ROM—the content of which will also be displayed on a 20 page printed educational outreach guide
Results:
The Lindberg Group effectively developed the creative brief, the innovative and interactive CD-ROM, and the folder for the guide. Lindberg Group was also successful in writing user-friendly and compelling text for all three aforementioned guide contents. Further, we were able to collaborate with other subcontractors, allowing us to come up with a superiorly creative and pioneering design for the five folders.
